One of our most viewed posts on this site is the post about chopping and freezing your onions for later. When bags of onions are on a great sale it is efficient and frugal to buy a bag and slice and dice the onions all at one time. Then you can store them in the freezer and pull some out whenever a recipe calls for sliced or diced onions.
Did you know, though, that there are other fun and very practical ways to use an onion that has nothing to do with cooking? Here are some of the other special things you can do with onions that you may have never thought of:

Okay, okay, for real, here are a few things you can make with an onion…
1. NATURAL DYES
2. MOSQUITO REPELLANT
3. SOOTHE ATHLETE’S FOOT

There are many known ways to try to treat a wart. One of the ways is to mix onion slices with crushed aspirin and a little water. Apply the solution to the wart. The onion’s chemical content and the aspirin’s active ingredients will gradually soothe the wart and make it subside. Here’s a neat trick: To maximize the solution’s effect, apply some to a piece of duct tape. Stick the tape on the wart. After several hours, the lesion will be nothing more than a distant memory. Honey draws out the intercellular fluid of the onion, including a sulfur compound, which is antiviral and antibacterial! Instructions below:
To prepare the onion and honey syrup:
1. Chop an onion into cubes.
2. Add three full tablespoons of honey.
3. Leave the mixture overnight.
4. In the morning, filter out the onion cubes and retain the fluid.
*Ingest a full tablespoon every two hours.
