By the time I get a birthday party on the calendar, my kids have already picked what they want the theme of their birthday party to be. We have done a Mario party, Lego party, Elmo party, Looney Tunes party, Lorax party, and Surprise Camping party just to name a few. Just last night as I was getting ready to write this post, my daughter told me that she is thinking of having an “Ice” party. When I asked her what that meant she looked at my computer screen and said, “I don’t know. I just saw a blue cupcake on there, and I was thinking of ice and snowflakes.” So yeah, we will see how that goes. 🙂
This year, my six year old decided he really wanted a Star Wars birthday party. To be honest, though, I was feeling stressed out before we even started. I was busy… really busy… and I knew that he was expecting me to come up with impressive Star Wars-y ideas for his party. I have gone all out in the past with my kids’ birthday parties, and I enjoyed coming up with creative ideas when I did, but I just wasn’t feeling up to it this time. I didn’t want to come up with fun snacks, or super clever games, or a cake. I decided to do what most moms do: I started looking on Pinterest, which just made me feel more overwhelmed. Luckily for me, though, when I went to Dollar Tree to get the decorations, there were lots of Star Wars-y type things there that helped inspire a couple of games. As far as food goes, we did a pizza and cake, and I didn’t make the pizza or the cake!
So about this cake! I reached out to a friend whose daughter has already built a great reputation for making delicious and creative cakes and cupcakes. I asked if she could try to come up with a Star Wars themed cake. I didn’t have any specific ideas in mind of what I wanted, but I didn’t have to.
She asked me two questions: 1. What is his favorite Star Wars character? and 2. What is his favorite flavored cake?
My answer: Storm Trooper and chocolate.
And here is what she showed up at our house with:
Isn’t that fantastic!?! My kids were so excited when they saw this cake, and what Star Wars loving kid wouldn’t be? Obviously, this was not her first cake. She has done many cakes, for many people, for many occasions. I wanted to share a few of the cakes that she has done in the past because she is raising money for a mission trip with the money she makes selling her cakes. If you live in the Valparaiso, Indiana area and are looking for a great cake, let me know, and I will connect you! Here are some of the creative creations she has done in the past:
