*Update: The WW freestyle Program started December 3, 2017. Since then we have updated the SmartPoint totals in this list to reflect the new plan! Changes made are in red font.
You spoke. We listened.
It’s become clear, based on the responses we are getting, that many of you appreciate when we share food choices that are low in smart points, particularily in the form of lists. It seems that I am not the only one who has been looking for snacks, desserts, dinners, lunches, and fast food ideas that are low in Weight Watcher Smart Points. So far we have shared a list of smart fast foods low in smart points, a list of Smart Dessert ideas with Smart Points, and a list of smart and easy breakfast ideas, but our most popular list so far has been the list of over 60 Smart Snacks with Smart Points. All of those are great but…
THIS LIST IS MY FAVORITE.
Of all the lists on here this one I am about to share is probably my favorite. I put a little more into this one because I think this list will help the most people. I don’t know what your schedule is like but I work 4 days a week and each day I work I get a half hour lunch break. If I go grab fast food or food from home I lose 10-15 of those 30 minutes so it works best if I can bring my lunch in the morning and not have to go out on my lunch break. I mentioned before that one day a week my husband brings me lunch, which is my favorite, but we can’t do that everyday. Next to my “date days” my next FAVORITE lunch days are when I have leftovers from dinner… but some days we don’t have leftovers. What would be SMART is to have a back-up plan, an in-a-pinch plan, or a “This-is-what-I-meant-to-do-all-along” plan, thus this list.
THIS IS A LIST FOR MORE THAN JUST MOMS WHO WORK.
I am hoping to share some practical ideas and recipes for three categories of people this week.
- People who feed 1, 2, or 3 people in their home.
- Moms whose husbands are often working during the dinner hour and have expressed to me that when their husband is not home for dinner they are less motivated to cook a big dinner, ESPECIALLY if they know that after cooking a great dinner their kids will barely touch it.
- People who have to make dinner FAST! Between rushing to children’s practices after school, or to church, or a game, and then squeezing in homework, it can be overwhelming to think you would spend 30 minutes making dinner and another 20 sitting down to eat it!
If you fit in one of these categories come back later this week for other practical tips, recipes, and ideas that might help you.
Today is about lunch. Particularly, lunches for people who don’t have a lot of time for lunch, but want to stick to their Weight Watcher plan. Each of these lunch combinations is worth between 2-9 Weight Watcher Smart Points.
This list is easy. It’s grab-and-go food, that takes little forethought and hardly any prep time. I have put together over 30 lunch combinations for you. That’s over a month’s worth of lunches! I hope you are able to find some things on this list that can help make your lunch time smooth, guilt-free, and delicious!
About our list of smart lunch ideas with low
Weight Watcher Smart Points.
A few things worth mentioning about this list…
- Serving sizes are mentioned, but not shown in the picture. The picture shows what the package would look like if you bought it in the store to make it easier for you to find in the store. When counting points be sure to note the serving size given.
- Pair these “lunch combination” ideas with fruit, vegetables and lots of water. I didn’t add pictures of fruit or vegetables to every lunch combination, but it is a good idea. With the combinations that offer a protein on a bun (for instance) you will probably want to add strawberries, blueberries, an apple, a banana, or something like that to pack in some fiber, and fill you up, for zero smart points.
- These are just suggestions. I created this list thinking that these things went good together, but it’s also a list of ideas. Bypass the bun and make a lettuce wrap or cook up a chicken burger and eat it with 1/2 of an avocado. Mix and match as you see fit and make this list work for you.
- I created a printable condensed version of this list that you can take to the store. If you are interested in printing this list scroll to the bottom of this post and you will find a link to a PDF you can print off.
Soups that can be made ahead of time and reheated later for lunch.
My absolute favorite lunches are the ones I make the night before and reheat when lunchtime comes around. Soups are PERFECT for that! Check out our long list of over 50 soups that are low in FreeStyle Smart Points for a bunch of delicious soup recipes I love.
Plus, how about some salads that are great for lunch?
A couple of the lunch combinations listed below suggest using pre-bagged salads. You would be surprised how YUMMY some of the salad options are in the grocery store nowadays. Companies make it incredibly convenient to eat healthy, by putting together the salads in such a way that all you have to do is cut a few bags and throw the ingredients together in a bowl. Some even give you a disposable bowl! But, if you are looking for yummy homemade salad recipes that you can whip together from we have you covered here with our list of over 50 WW friendly salads that are low in WW FreeStyle Smart Points.

HOW ABOUT YOU?
What are some of your favorite lunch ideas that are low in Weight Watcher smart points?
I would love to hear your suggestions!
Karen says
I have a hard time finding the 2-SmartPoints breads and rolls. I’ve searched in Giant, Safeway, Wegmans, Harris Teeter and Trader Joes in and around the Damascus, MD area. The only low point bread I’ve found is Pepperidge Faem lite bread but no low point hamburger or hit dog rolls.
Alisha Hughes says
I’m sorry Karen. I looked up several different brands using the zipcode 20872 and it appears that the ones on this list are not in close proximity to that zipcode. Perhaps if you have a Target close by you might be able to find some there. It looks like there might be Arnold’s buns at Harris Teeter and Safeway. If so, they may have the “carb counting 100% whole wheat buns” that are 2 WW SP. If all else fails you could use a slice of bread in place of a bun or order online. If you order online I would recommend going with Healthy Life. You can get to their site here: http://www.healthylifebread.com/pages/where-to-buy/buy-online.php They are my personal favorite and they have lots of options. Hope this helps.
Karen says
Thank you so much for your great suggestions. I appreciate it and love your website. Keep up the good work.
Alisha Hughes says
Thank you Karen! 🙂
Tammy says
Same goes for me, I live in Yakima, Washington (98902) and am about 150 miles from a Trader Joe’s but do go there several times a year. Will have to stock up next time we go – when the weather is better in these parts! Very hard to find light buns, etc. Love the site!
kathy says
YOu could also try Amazon pantry.
Beth says
Karen-
You may want to look for the Giant brand of buns that are light. They are 2 points. I live on the eastern shore of MD. Hope they have them for you!

Sara Lee delightful 45 multi grain (90 calories for 2 Slices-Multi Grain-Cal 90-SF 0-Sug1-Pro6!! Really Good

These are great ideas!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all the time you have put into planning. I am a newbie on your site and have just joined WW so it’s very exciting to have all of this great help!
Alisha Hughes says
Awesome Bonnie! Thanks for dropping us a comment. Welcome to the Weight Watcher family! 🙂
Roberta Riddle says
OMG I just came across your site. What a blessing it is, this will make my busy and swamped life so much better I can’t wait to get started. I have put together a “bible” of your dinner menus with shopping list, snack items and Lunch suggestions no reason to worry about going to the store multiple times for something I forgot or worry what’s for dinner tonight. I can’t say enough about your site, except that weight watchers needs to endorse it and plug it for you. Well rest assure that I will do that at our meeting tomorrow. Thank you again for this wonderful website and now if I could just find one with podcasts for inspirational material nothing could stop me.
Alisha Hughes says
🙂 haha.. awesome. Thanks Roberta! 🙂
Laura S says
I just recently jumped back on the WW wagon and am in process of learning the Smart Points system and getting food/meal ideas and I just want to say, I have been perusing MANY websites with info, recipes, etc…but thus far, your site is providing the most useful information and lists that I have run across! Very practical and useful information. Thanks much for your efforts!
Alisha Hughes says
Awesome Laura! Thanks for letting us know. Much success to you.
Wendi says
This list is exactly what I was looking for. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Alisha Hughes says
Awesome!
Michelle robertson says
I have Ben using the app Itrackbites ….when I scan the barcode for the meandering orange fruit cups you have listed with no sugar but monk fruit it reads 2 smart points ? Are all fruits and veggies still zero pints?
Alisha Hughes says
Hi Michelle,
Thank you for bringing this one to my attention. Fruits and veggies are still zero points, but not necessarily always if they are canned since there may be more than just fruit in the can. When I looked up “Dole Mandarin oranges, No sugar added” mine still shows 0 smart points. I have not tried to scan the bar code to know if it shows up differently when you scan the bar code. If you are not using the “Dole” brand or if you are getting mandarin oranges in juice, syrup, or gel, that could possibly make a difference. Much of the calories is in the juice and not the mandarin oranges themselves so if you are drinking the juice it may increase the points. Hope this helps.
Lynn Biderman says
Other than a turkey sandwich (3 ww sp for a sandwich round + 2 ww sp for deli style low sodium turkey breast) I am always feeling stuck and frustrated about lunch – whether I’m eating in or out with friends – UNTIL NOW! Thank you for this fabulous list! As I was reading, and pre-planning what to have for my next lunch, I was making list a list. Then I reach the end of your list of lunch suggestions to find YOU ALREADY MADE A LIST!
YOU ARE THE BEST, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Lynn Biderman says
Oh dear, should have proof read my comment before hitting “post.” Embarrassing as it is to read my error,s I did really appreciate all of your suggestions for quick, easy lunches.
my corrections: I was only making one list.
When I reached the end of ….
thanks again, Lynn
Alisha Hughes says
haha.. 🙂 That’s funny. Thanks for dropping a comment. I appreciate your enthusiasm and hope you find some new lunch ideas you love.
Alisha Hughes says
Yay! 🙂
Angela Goddard says
Wow! You sure have done a lot of work here!! . My son and I have been on Weight Watchers since May 17, 2016. I’m down 41 lbs. and I plan to keep on going! But some of my menu choices have gotten boring. Thank you so much for your suggestions! Hopefully with a few change ups, we won’t get bored! Have a wonderful holiday season and don’t eat too much!!!
Alisha Hughes says
🙂 Great job Angela!! You rock. Keep it up. And yes, it is nice to get some new ideas from time to time.
Tish says
I too must say I was lost and overwhelmed with how to start or plan my food menu and points. I bought the WW cookbook and hated everything in it. Too many expensive ingredients and foods I didn’t like. What a waste of money. You and this website is a blessing. Thank you very much for the printable list and menus. I feel like I can do this now. Thank you truly doesn’t express my gratitude for this information.
Ann says
I, too am very grateful to have found your site. In addition to making things so much easier – the recipes are delicious!! Thank you so much. I know you are helping a lot of people and it is much appreciated!
Alisha Hughes says
Awesome! Thanks so much, Ann! ?
Dana says
Thank you for the great lunch suggestions! As a teacher, I need something quick and easy. Can you help me figure out the discrepancy in the ready PAC salads? I’m getting 9 and 10 points each for those when I scan them. Thanks again!!
Alisha Hughes says
Okay. Dana, I am sorry. I have to look into this one more. When you do a search on the salads they pull up 5 and 8, which still doesn’t make sense because at one time the Santa Fe salad showed up 6 smart points when you did a search. I am going to try to contact Weight Watchers and look into it a little more. I did go ahead and change the Santa Fe one to say 8 smart points. Once I know more I will jump back on here and comment again. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
Alisha Hughes says
So strange. I reached out to Weight Watchers through their 24/7 chat. The lady said to go with the nutrition facts. When I pointed out that the nutrition facts actually come up 9 smart points but the app says 8, (and used to say 6) she said to go with the 9. She said she would let WW know about the discrepancy and today when I checked it says it is 9 on the app, so the good news is they fixed it on the app… so BRAVO to you for catching that! Thanks oodles. I will go back and change this one again to reflect the 9 smart points.
Dana says
You are welcome, but now I’m sad!!! That would have been a perfect lower point lunch. Now I’m thinking it’s not worth it.
Thanks for all of your quick and easy suggestions. The pictures make it so easy to find in the store.
Alisha Hughes says
I’m totally with you, sister. Very disappointing. The southwest one is my favorite Ready Pac salad too. 🙁 I debated swapping that one out on the list for a lower point one, and I still may do that… since 9 smart points really isn’t much to brag about, is it? The one I was thinking about replacing it with is the Caesar Lite one, which is 6 SP per container. You can see what that one looks like here: http://www.readypac.com/product/caesar-lite/ or you can check out all the different ones (and see their nutrition facts) here: http://www.readypac.com/our-brands/bistro/?rplpaccnum1=1 It appears we will have to plug in nutrition facts for all of these salads to know for sure that they are correct, because I found another one that was off on the WW app as well. :/
Dolores Hall says
Thanks for tour helpful site
Alisha Hughes says
🙂 No problem.
Sharon Myers says
One of my favorite lunches, and sooo easy is the Starkist Tuna Salad in a pouch. You can make a sandwich on low cal bread, add it to a lettuce and spinach salad, or simply eat it right from the pouch if things are really hectic. If my calculations are correct, the whole pouch is only 2 WW points!
Alisha Hughes says
Awesome Sharon. Definitely a smart lunch. 🙂
Amanda-Kate says
I am so happy to have found this site, thank you so much for putting together these great combo’s!
I love the convenience of having the points figured out, it’s ready made success!
I reside in a small town in Oregon and am hoping that I will have luck in finding some of these great options.
Thanks again 🙂
Alisha Hughes says
Awesome! Glad we can help. If you don’t have the exact same things on this list it is possible that it will spur on an idea of something that is sold where you are. Much success to you!! 🙂
Mary Ann says
Thank you so much for your hard work in putting this list together!! It’s a great list!!!
Alisha Hughes says
Thank you Mary Ann! 🙂
Brenda Webber says
Thank you so much for all the hard work you did to get these awesome lists together. I’m just re-starting WW from Lifetime years ago. This new plan seems to be much more doable and especially with your wonderful Blog which makes it so much easier to know what to buy at the grocery store. Can’t wait to go shopping again!!
Alisha Hughes says
Awww… Brenda, Thank you for your sweet, encouraging message. I was needing that today. Glad these lists are going to help you!
GMK says
Please forgive if this is a duplicate, but the fresh express bacon and blue is 11 smart points according to my calculations.
Alisha Hughes says
Hmm… My WW app still says that 1-1/2 cups is 3 WW SP. Is it possible you are counting the whole bag?
Abby says
Do you know how they plan to re-figure the Smart Ones meals now with the Flex plan? Have they changed on the app? Will they change the boxes too? Thanks!
Alisha Hughes says
Hi Abby, unfortunately my app has still not changed. This is a very big disappointment for me. :/ I wish I could tell you for sure. My guess would be that the smart points are changed in the app, but it will take a while for stores to sell what they have on stock before rolling out the new boxes with the updated info. Sorry I can’t be more helpful. Did you try messaging WW on your app?
Dana says
I love all of your lunch ideas and your other ones as well, they are all very helpful. However the trouble that I am having is that I work in home health and so I do not have a microwave available to me, this leaves me stuck with just sandwiches, which gets boring. Do you have any ideas?
Alisha Hughes says
That’s hard. I have a couple of ideas. Prepackaged Salads, lettuce wraps, and perhaps getting a mini slow cooker that you can reheat things like soups. They make them in individual sizes that may be more convenient for you. There are lots of different kinds, but this is one of them just to give you an example. http://amzn.to/2q9WQjs Hope this helps. Happy New Year!!
Bren says
Can I ask where you shop? I am having trouble finding a few items.
Alisha Hughes says
Do you have a Walmart by you? Most of these are at my Walmart. Was there one of the foods in particular you were looking for?
Susan says
Lunch has been my downfall lately because whenever WW changes the points calculations, my usual go-to gets shut down 🙁
Thanks so much for sharing this, Alicia. I really needed some new ideas!
