I had a happy family this week. We really enjoyed each of these recipes. My favorite this week was the barbecue meatloaf. My kid’s favorite was the potato bar. Four of the recipes from this week are adapted from recipes in one of my favorite cookbooks, Cooking Light’s Five Ingredient, Fifteen Minute cookbook.
Here are five reasons I love this five ingredient cookbook…
- Pictures! I love a cookbook that has pictures of every recipe.
- Nutrition facts! For me personally, this helps when I am I counting Weight Watcher points, and it also helps me understand sodium content in the recipe, which I have to start being more careful with.
- Good recipes! (of course) I love a cookbook with at least ten recipes I like enough to cook more than once… which is actually kind of rare for me. If it is a cookbook that has less than five recipes I love I usually copy those recipes and put them in my recipe binder and then ditch the cookbook.
- My family has to like the recipes! If I know the family will get excited when they hear I am cooking the recipe then that is a winning recipe that I want to make over and over again because really, what mom wants to keep making a recipe that makes the whole family groan when they get to the table? Not this one.
- Easy recipes! If a recipe takes over and hour to make I am probably never going to make it again. Although there are exceptions to this one for me. If #3 and #4 of this list are happening with a recipe I am probably going to make it again sometime even it is does take a little while longer to make, but I just probably won’t make it very often.
There you have it. My top five reasons for loving a cookbook, and why I love this Cooking Light’s Five Ingredient, Fifteen Minute cookbook.
