Update as of 1/7/2017…
The winner of this giveaway has been randomly selected and notified. Congratulations PJ! Thanks to everyone who participated! We loved hearing about your favorite meals!
On Black Friday I snagged lots of great deals, but one of my favorite deals was a planner and recipe binder I got from Michaels. Their Recollection brand recipe binder is valued at $29.99! Michaels carries lots of great planners, but for recipe planning I think this one is the best!
One of the joys of blogging is getting to share great things that you love and every once in a while you get to do a giveaway and bless one of the readers with the things you are currently crushing on. Let me tell you why I am loving this binder and what I am planning on doing with mine.
A glimpse into this Recollections Recipe Planner. . .
It’s cute and clever and I just love it.
At the beginning of the binder are a few helpful lists that you can refer back to when you are in a pinch. There is a list of measurement equivalents, kitchen conversions, and kitchen substitutes.
A place to put recipes you typically make during certain months of the year.
This is more than just a place to put your recipes. This binder is designed to help you plan your year of recipes. You could use this “Special Occasions” section to put the recipes that use seasonal ingredients or you could use it to put things like your famous Baklava that you only make at Christmas time. This planning page will help you sort those things out and remember them.
Table of contents.
So practical. Every good book that you refer back to over and over again should have a table of contents, right? You can number the pages of your recipes if you want but you don’t have to. This will give you a quick snapshot of what recipes you have in your binder… which is great when you are trying to remember recipes to use in your meal plan for the week.
Recipe pages. Lots of them.
Now you can get to the fun part: Putting all of your favorite recipes in one place. Each recipe page has a place for ingredients, directions, extra notes, serving size, the main ingredients, the difficulty level of the recipe, the prep time, cooking time, and temperature. What more could you ask for in a recipe binder?
Tabbed Categories to keep your recipes organized.
Breakfast, sides, main dishes, desserts, and misc. tabs will keep you from having to hunt for a long time for the recipe you are looking for. The “miscellaneous” tab is great for recipes like this copycat Chick-Fil-A sauce that is AMAZING and had to find its way into my binder!
Okay, so here is the best part, in my opinion…
There is a place for meal planning and grocery lists in the back of the recipe binder!!!
This one deserves red font. This concept is perfect. When you flip the binder open to the meal planning section you will see that the left page has a grocery list you can fill in and the right page has a place to write out what meals you will be eating that week. I just feel like this makes so much sense.
If you want you can tear the grocery list out of the book and take it to the store with you. Alternatively you can leave the grocery list in the binder and take the whole binder to the store with you. If you leave the grocery list in the binder you can refer back to it over and over again!
Cute stickers that make the binder your own.
As if the whole binder wasn’t cute enough, the cherry on the cake is that there are a bunch of stickers in the back that you can add to your pages. Practical stickers (like a 30 minute clock to remind you that it takes 30 minutes to cook) and fun cutesy ones (like stickers that say, “delicious”, “so good”, and “fave”.
Why I got THIS particular recipe binder.
I already have one recipe binder, so why do I need another one? First, because it’s cute. 🙂 Second, because I wanted a separate recipe binder that I could pass on to my daughter when she moves out of the house. Third, I like the simplicity of this binder.
I am still in the process of adding recipes to my binder and as I add them I am realizing how easy it is to use. There are lots of great recipes that I have tried in the past year that my family loved but I never took the time to put into my old binder. They are going into this one.
WILL THIS RECIPE KEEPSAKE/PLANNER HELP YOU?
