Today’s recipe combines three ingredients I am loving rig smoked paprika, liquid smoke, and salmon.
I have been playing around with smoked paprika lately, and I have two recipes that use it that I am excited to share with you (today’s recipe and a steak recipe that will be coming a little later).
Plus, not too long ago, I developed an appreciation for salmon and have been looking for new ways to prepare it. I made this salmon on my grill pan, but you could also use a skillet.
Spring vegetables: The perfect pairing!
One of the suggestions we got after making our first (volume 1) “12 Week Meal Plan Mega Bundle” ebook was to include suggested sides in our next ebook.
So, in our “Volume Two 12 Week Meal Plan Mega Bundle” ebook (coming in January 2019), we will be adding simple suggested sides to recipes that do not include vegetables.
This recipe would be an example of when we would suggest a simple side. The suggested side: PictSweet Farms Spring Vegetables (pictured below) that includes zucchini, squash, carrots, red bell peppers, onions, and asparagus. It’s perfect with this salmon recipe!
I hope you enjoy this Honey Smoked Salmon as much as I did!
Here is what you need:
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons honey
2 teaspoons liquid smoke
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 garlic clove, minced
4 (6 ounce each) salmon fillets
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
Here is what you do:
In a shallow dish, mix the flour and salt.
In a small bowl, combine the honey, liquid smoke, lemon juice, smoked paprika, and garlic.
Coat top and bottom of the salmon fillets with the flour/salt mixture.
Use a basting brush, brush the oil on a large skillet or grill pan set over medium high heat.
Add salmon to the pan coated in oil, skin side down.
Using the same basting brush you used for the oil, brush the smoked honey mixture over the top of the salmon fillets.
Flip the fillets over and brush the skin side of the salmon with the honey mixture. Allow salmon to cook 4 minutes. Flip and cook an additional 3 minutes. Take salmon off the pan right after it is done cooking, so it doesn’t stick to the pan as it cools. (I learned this the hard way…honey…it’s sticky.)
This salmon goes great with a Spring vegetable mixture, such as zucchini, squash, carrots, asparagus, red bell peppers, and onion. I just got a bag of frozen vegetables that I could cook in the microwave, and it was perfect!
Makes 4 servings.
One serving is one cooked salmon fillet.
One serving is 11 Green, 3 Blue, and 3 Purple points.

Hi, wondering where you get salmon for these recipes? Do you use fresh salmon from the grocery store or salmon steaks? Haven’t cooked salmon in a few years because I was never sure if I was cooking it right.
Thanks
Debra

Hi Debra, I like to get the fresh salmon from the meat/deli area of my store whenever possible.

Hi this recipe looks great I was wondering if I could bake it in the oven? Thank you

Yes, I love cooking my salmon in the oven because it is so easy. To get an idea of cooking time you can check out this baked Apricot Glazed Salmon recipe here: https://mealplanningmommies.com/apricot-glazed-salmon/ Thanks!
