Hello!
How is 2017 going for you so far? Lots of our readers are eager to try some new things that will keep them on track with their goals without making them feel deprived. If this is you, let us help you out!
Once a month in 2017 we will be sharing a new Weight Watcher friendly meal plan complete with free printables of the grocery list and meal plan. This is our 24th Weight Watcher friendly meal plan with smart points on MPM! You can always refer back to our older meal plans on the off weeks when we aren’t posting new ones. There are lots of choose from. To get to the other 23 meal plans you can go here.
Included in this week’s Weight Watcher friendly meal plan are six recipes that I think could easily become family favorites. You can get to the recipes by following the links to each one below. Scroll to the bottom of this post to get to the grocery list and meal plan PDFs that you can print off if you like.
6 things you will love about this meal plan:
♥ It uses ingredients that are probably familiar to you, but feel like they should be off limits when you are trying to lose weight. You will enjoy foods like tortellini, steak, barbecue potato chips, and sausage this week. YUM!
♥ The smart points for each of these recipes are between 5-8 WW Smart Points per serving. Guilt free and manageable.
♥ You won’t feel like you are on a diet.
♥ We did all the planning for you. All you have to do is print off the grocery list, get the groceries, and follow the recipes.
♥ Quick and easy recipes (especially the honey mustard chicken) that will take less than 30 minutes to prepare.
♥ These are one pot wonders, so you won’t need to dirty up lots of pots and pans with these recipes.
Which will be your favorite?
My personal favorite of these recipes was the hash brown topped steak. My kids liked the crispy BBQ chicken tenders and the honey mustard chicken the most. My husband was surprised at how much he liked the Southwest Kielbasa Skillet dinner. In fact, he even helped me come up with the name for that recipe. There is something for everyone this week. If there is a particular recipe you don’t want to try you can leave that one out. (See the grocery list explanation below to to see how to leave a recipe off of the meal plan)
What are you doing for you?
Okay, so this isn’t really about the meal plan, but I wanted to share it anyway. I carved out a chunk of time this past week to do a little home improvement projects I have been wanting to tackle for several months now. One of the things Weight Watchers has been good about stressing over the last several months is the importance of doing things you love as a way of taking care of yourself. Every time they would talk about it in the meetings I would think of two things: How nice it would be to paint our hallways and living room, and how much I wanted to create a space for blogging in my home one day. I took on the painting project and I have started the process of getting a blogging work station set up that I hope to show you at another time. Today I want to share my before and after pictures of our hallways and living room to give you a little peek into my life.
First, we gave our hallway a little lift.
The main hallway in our home is probably the most well-worn path in the whole house. It’s an important part of our house because it is used every single day, multiple times but multiple people. I loved our wooden floors, but I was never super wild about the wood paneled walls. We decided to lighten up the hallway by painting the wood paneling white, and what a difference it made!
Now I just have to decide what I will hang on the walls, but that is the fun part. 🙂
Next, we tackled the living room walls.
We had a deep forest green wall that used to match our dark colored plaid couches. When we replaced the overused, sagging couches we never updated the walls. The green, that no longer made sense with our newer home decor, just sort of threw off the room, but I didn’t know what color I wanted to paint it, so it just stayed that color. The light yellow walls (below) were this color when we bought the home. They didn’t make a loud statement and because I didn’t want to spend more money than was necessary at the time we left them yellow. The yellow never actually went with anything in our house but it wasn’t high on the priority list so it remained yellow.
Getting these walls painted gray was such a joy for me. Seeing it go so well with the decor I had been getting here and there over the past several months, combined with the look of the gray next to the white walls brought such a sense of satisfaction. It made the room feel like a place I wanted to live in by choice, if that makes sense. I didn’t love the yellow, but I didn’t hate it either. It just wasn’t a color I would have chosen, but making the living room the exact color I wanted was a birthday gift I will get to enjoy for years.
Here is our end result. A lightened up, more modern living room space and hallway!
My husband and I could have gone out for a nice night away in a hotel this weekend as a way to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday (which happens to be about a week away from each other). Alternatively, for about the same amount of money we could update our current living space. This just seemed like the better deal.
As a tiny little bonus, I got a serious work out. Going up and down on the ladder, leaning down into a squat position over and over again to get to the bottom of the walls, all of that was work. The white walls took three coats so you can imagine what that felt like. 🙂 It was good. I was sore, but I was happy to be sore. I was accomplishing something that was important to me, so it didn’t feel like a work out, and yet my body didn’t know the difference.
